The only private school in France recognised by the Spanish Ministry of Education, Science and Sport
SEK Les Alpes is more than just a school
At SEK-Les Alpes we offer students a unique and exciting opportunity. Located near Megève, one of France’s premium skiing destinations, SEK-Les Alpes is focused on providing the best experiential education. Based on the ethos pursued at SEK International Schools, we offer two-month to full academic year stays that help students hone strengths and abilities that will aid them in designing their own future.
Kurt Hahn, the founder of Outward Bound, the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and United World Colleges, knew a great deal about education based on experience and doing things differently. At SEK-Les Alpes we are about following his example to create a valuable educational offering in nature, relying on the different aspects of the SEK profile, to develop open-minded students who reflect and learn to take risks.
SEK International School Les Alpes is located in the heart of Europe, close to Flumet-St. Nicolas la Chapelle, in the French Savoy, near to Albertville and Megève, at an altitude of around 1,000m. Switzerland and Italy are about 70 and 40km away, respectively. The Megève ski resort is located close to the school with over 400 km of pistes, but Courchevel, Tignes and La Plagne, which hosted the 1992 Winter Olympics, are also easily accessible. We also offer a wide range of sports in stunning natural settings including hiking in Col des Aravis; rafting on the Isère river; ice-skating in Megève; skiing in Tignes and Megève; orienteering, rock climbing, gorge walking in La Léchère; kayaking on Anncey Lake; via ferrata.
Curricular enrichment activities are part of students’ personal and academic development at SEK-Les Alpes, with visits to nearby cities such as Geneva, Chamonix, Albertville, Annecey, Grenoble, Lyon and Chambèry. Longer trips are also organised to Venice, Florence, Sienna, Milan, Verona and Paris. All these trips are coordinated by a team of teachers that take great care in supervising each programme.
